“Polar” is an net-zero energy, off-grid research station located in Churchill, Manitoba popularly known as the polar bear capital of the world. Churchill is also known for its facilitation of scientific research regarding environmental related issues such as climate change, greenhouse emissions, water testing, wildlife, and etc. At approximately 75 meters squared, “Polar” provides a sanctuary where researchers can investigate the topics mentioned above while sheltering from Churchill’s extremely cold climate and potential bear visitors.
